Entrance to Ball Game Hall. Vintage metal print by Jenny Rainbow. Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Artist's Description
Entrance to Ball Game Hall. Vintage by Jenny Rainbow.
This Renaissance building on the south side of the Royal Gardens, directly above the Stag Moat, was built from 1567 to 1569. It served as a ball games hall, and later as a riding school and stables. During the reign of Josef II it was used as a military storage facility.
Nowadays the Ball Game Hall is used for exhibition of creative arts, social events, conferences and concerts.

The renaissance sgraffito-work is original, though it has been restored several times, most notably in the 1950 s, At this time – in addition to the figures of the cardinal virtues, the liberal arts and the four elements – there was added an allegory of Soviet industry, complete with hammer and sickle.
