From Weed's Landscape Nursery catalog for 1924: "Rich light lavender to dark madder violet. One of the best of the bicolor iris."
From the Cornell Extension Bulletin 112, 1925: "Color effect a light lavender, prune purple veined bicolor. S. light lavender-violet reticulated violet. F. velvety prune purple, closely and distinctly veined the same on the glistening lavender outer haft, reticulated brown. Beard fine, dense, bluish, with orange tips.
