Description
Picturesque View. Saxon Switzerland by Jenny Rainbow.
Saxon Switzerland is an area in Saxony, Germany, so named after its picturesque upland scenery.
About 30 km (18 mi) upward the Elbe River from Dresden this is a mountain area made of sandstone. Bizarre stone formations and spectacular views are only a few of the wonderful characteristics of this region that is ideal for hiking, but also for a relaxed day out. For those who like nature, it is surely the most beautiful landscape to be found in Saxony. It can get crowded along the river at summer weekends, if you don't like this, try the cooler days. In late autumn or even winter you will nearly be alone outside the villages. There are also many rock castles and caves within the region, most worth a visit. Further up stream along the Elbe/Labe one enters the Czech Republic. However, the rock formations and the natural spender continue and this region is known historically as the Bohemian Switzerland
The national park was established in 1990 and covers an area of 93 km2. This territory is one of the most valuable and stricly protected parts (core) of the National Park, where natural forests have been preserved. Together with the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, it creates a large complex of ecosystems consisting of sandstone rocks and forests with minimal human settlement. The Administration of Saxon Switzerland National Park (and Protected Landscape Area) is based in Bad Schandau, where there is also the National Park House featuring a multimedia exhibition available for tourists.

Another impressive image and scenery. I like the vantage point. Seems like you were standing really on the edge! Awesome colour capture.
Jenny Rainbow replied:
Thank you very much, Hany! There are all the view points on the edge, so it was easy to get a right place for photography :-)
