Description
Pavilion in Japanese Garden by Jenny Rainbow.
Japanese Garden in Main Botanic Gardens of the Academy of Sciences.
The biggest in Europe, this garden was officially established on April 14, 1945, but in fact, its history started much earlier: here you can see the remains of untrodden forests that surroundedMoscowcenturies ago. The first record of this territory was found in the 16th century annals, where it was mentioned as the favorite hunting lands of Russian princes. Even today, considerable part of the garden looks like a real forest: therere about 200 species of trees and more than 350 species of bushes growing here. As for flowers therere more than 2,000 species! The gem of the garden is a rosarium spread out over2.5 hectaresin the southwest part of the garden. 300 kinds of roses blossom till the first frosts. If you prefer austere style, youd better visit a rockery blossoming terraces covered with juniper and other evergreen plants, or a Japanese garden, laid out in accordance with the canons of Japanese gardening culture and with participation of Japanese architects.
