Description
The night collection with the Utrecht lights created in wonderful collaboration with Michel Verhoef.
Charming, vital and ambitious. These qualities represent the essence of Utrecht. Behind the picturesque facade of an ancient provincial capital beats the dynamic heart of one of the Netherlands' most prosperous and innovative cities. With its central location and creative talent, Utrecht is an important meeting place for culture, knowledge and business, and has been for more than 20 centuries. This, more than anything else, has made the city what it is today.
With more than 318,000 inhabitants, Utrecht is the Netherlands' fourth city. Utrecht is the capital of the province of the same name which has 1.2 million inhabitants. The city was built on Roman foundations but now stands at the very heart of the Netherlands, where the country's road and rail networks intersect. The city's central location mean it is at the heart of the Netherlands' business and leisure communities.
Utrecht has a reputation as an independent-minded and lively city, which is gaining more and more recognition as a centre of knowledge and culture, both nationally and internationally. It is these qualities that the city aims to promote itself with, both today and in the future.

Wonderful shot! Great timing to capture this location after some rainfall (at least, I guess that's what you've done), to get optimal reflections in the brickwork. I also admire your ability to keep the highlights in the streetllights nice and quiet - too often, those lights are ruining a night picture. Also the angle is perfect: great depth, with strong vertical line from the middle and nice warm reflections of the building on the left side in the Oude Gracht.
